Please join me in a giant congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Dodge! I can’t even begin to tell you what an honor it is to be a wedding photographer to amazing couples like Nick and Jocelyn. They were so much fun to be with all day long: laid back, happy, and truly enjoying the moments of their wedding day. They started their day with getting ready preparations in downtown Lawrence. Arterra Event Space hosted both their ceremony and reception (and catered a most amazing home-style meal for their friends and family). I don’t how blessed a couple has to be to have their January wedding day be as beautiful as it was. I’ll take a 57 degree with sun anytime for a winter wedding. It was so amazing, they even moved the ceremony outdoors. Arterra Event Gallery wedding photography:
Jocelyn and Nick decorated their wedding with an Americana theme because they both serve in the US Military and it is such a huge part of who they are. We incorporated those meaningful details into the photography whenever possible. Also, Jocelyn made her bouquets, boutonniere, corsages, and centerpieces for yet another personalized touch. The remove before flight keychain and garter are both based on Jocelyn’s Air background ground. She used to load bombs on F-16’s in active duty and when you go to launch the aircraft you have to pull all of the remove before flight pins to drop bombs and acttuate landing gear functions. She has had that keychain for about 10 years, which is my entire military career. Then they found the garter and they thought it was really cute because it has to be removed before our wedding night (or flight!). Jocelyn’s mother and sister helped her into her dress, garter and shoes and her best friend put on her veil. She is such Nick’s family and best friend helped him get ready and his mother pinned on his boutineer.
Out of the entire wedding day, both Jocelyn and Nick were looking forward to walking down the aisle and saying their vows. And from the look on Nick’s face, that moment did not disappoint. Also very special to their ceremony is that Jocelyn’s step father, Russ performed the ceremony.
I love the first few minutes after the ceremony when the newlyweds are greeted by their loved ones. Oh, the hugs!!
And here they are ladies and gents: MR. & MRS!! Oh can you just feel the love and laughter in these portraits?
What loving and supportive family and friends!
Arterra all dressed up. They love food, and were so excited about the delicious meal and signature cocktails. I think the Moscow Mule and Strawberry Basil Lemonade were both a hit. I love meals where the dishes are passed. It changes the whole dynamic of the evening for the better.
Toasts!!! Done wonderfully, I might add. Followed by the cake cutting (now is the time to check out the knife!) and first dances.
And the last shot of the night with a kiss outside and the party in full swing outside.
Seriously, you guys rock! Thanks for being so amazing.
