Kansas City Neighborhood Engagement Session: Ken & Gennesse

June 7, 2018

If you need proof that the home is where the heart is, you need to look no further than Ken & Genesse’s love story.  It was in Genesse’s downtown apartment that the two got to know each other, talking and looking out the window onto the Commerce Building.  Genesse says that she still smiles every time she sees their special landmark.  They also spent a lot of time at Scratch, the bakery across the street and in the neighborhood walking Gunner.  Ken even proposed to Gen in this apartment.  “When we first started dating, we would always order pizza and try a new kind of beer on Fridays. We would stay in to relax and catch up on TV shows from the week. Ken proposed on a Friday night right after the pizza was delivered, as we were settling in to watch the NCAA tournament.” So, it’s only fitting that we focus this Kansas City neighborhood engagement session right at home (and drinking a wine from one of their trips together) and the surrounding streets. The weekend after the photo session, Gen moved out of this apartment but they will always have these images to remember their beginnings.

Gunner was not going to be left out of the kisses.  I love how he just jumped in to give love to Gen.

This is the bakery, Scratch, that they love so much.

And, of course, it’s only fitting to end the night with the background being none other than the Commerce Building.

Ken & Gen, I cannot wait for your wedding this November!  Enjoy the rest of your planning for your future with some memories from your past.
