Bethy and Mitch both got ready with their bridal party and family at their parent’s home, so both places were sentimental…and the perfect way to start their winter wedding day. They said their vows and I dos during a gorgeous Catholic wedding mass at Cure of Ars in Leawood, Kansas, which also happens to be very special because Cure of Ars school is the place where the couple met. Then the newlyweds danced the night away at the beautifully decorated Hilton President in downtown Kansas City.

How did you meet?
We met at Curé of Ars. I was moving into my new classroom at my new job there, and Mitch happened to be up at school helping his mom set up her classroom. She is the art teacher there. Several weeks later, his mom encouraged us to meet and introduced us to each other. We started as friends and would walk our dogs together. Eventually, I agreed to go on a date with Mitch after he changed my flat tire for me after school during a snowstorm.
What’s your proposal story?
On our 1 year anniversary, Mitch tricked me into going back up to school in the evening after our dinner date. He told me his mom (the art teacher) left her hot glue guns on and we needed to go unplug them. We got up to school that night, and instead of finding hot glue guns, I found dozens of roses and candelabras set up in front of a beautiful mural of guardian angels. Mitch got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so surprised! Afterward, our families were all waiting for us next door at O’Neils, an Irish bar we frequent with our family.
