The preparations started in the hotel room for the bride, groom, and their bridal parties. Briana’s dress was stunning, and added further meaning when her grandmother’s bridal gown fabric was sewn into her dress. Her mom helped her into her dress and veil, and her girls helped to tie the perfect bow and make sure that veil was not going to fall out.
The guys and Chris’ mom tied ties, put on special socks, and pinned boutineers to be ready for the couple’s first look.
While we waited for the first look and the guys (how often does that happen?), we took some portraits in the bar area. Again, thankful for air conditioning. The guys got a turn as well.
First looks are always so special, but I especially love it when a groom is as excited to see his bride as Chris was. Look at that expression!
It was so very hot out, and I am most grateful to Morning Glory Antique’s in Westport for so generously allowing us to spend some time in their amazing and air conditioned space (they rent out for events!!) for photography of the happy couple. The rooms were amazing, filled with gorgeous antiques, couches, and light.
Just outside of the Antique’s store also made for a great Westport / KC backdrop.
Then off to UMKC, which is special to Briana and Chris. We walked the same paths that they did in the start of the relationship. Anytime a personal story can be added into photography, the results are so much more meaningful.
Then back to the venue for bridal party portraits.
This last image with the bouquet was photographed because Briana’s mom and dad have a similar image in their wedding album. How cool is that? The ceremony was beautiful with piano music, special readings, and their own written vows.
Everyone had a role with the unity candle as Briana and Chris passed the flame to their bridal party and parents, and then the flames extended throughout all the friends and family there.
Beautiful decor, cake, and food. The food at Californos is always amazing. Toasts followed by first dances and into some classic Irish jig.
Thank you so very much for trusting me to capture your wedding day!
Yours,
