When the winter sunshine warms just enough to enjoy the engagement session outdoors, we make the most of the natural beauty around us. And with this happy couple in love, it was not hard to create loving and pretty photographs. I love the way the Kansas trees, bare for the winter, makes for a gorgeous backdrop. Mackenzie and Leroy really love nature and cool bridges, so our winter engagement photo session was a good fit for their sweet personalities. We used a small patch of ground off of a trail, so they were troopers with some hiking. But I think the combination of using trees and bridges were a good fit. One thing is for sure, there was no shortage of laughter and big smiles.
Winter Engagement Photos
We’re definitely opposites in a way – Leroy is super goofy, Mackenzie a little more serious – and we both come from different backgrounds. Leroy is a small town guy at heart, Mackenzie likes the bigger cities. When it come to travel Mackenzie likes to have every minute of the day planned out while Leroy is go with the flow. But our opposite personalities compliment each other well. I love to hear my couples proposal stories. It’s a neat view into their love story. Here is theirs:
Leroy invited me over for dinner very casually saying “Hey, I’m making salmon Caesar salad if you want to come over”. He knows that is one of my favorites. I showed up, luckily not in sweats, and he came out and helped me carry my bags in. We walk in and all the lights are off except for some Christmas lights and a lamp on the kitchen table that has been moved to the center of the room.
The table was set for two with pictures of us scattered all over it and candles lit. Our friend Stephen was there and said “Welcome to Leroy’s, can I take your bags?” He took our bags then disappeared down the hall. Leroy paced in circles for a little bit. Then got down on one knee and proposed (while Stephen took a few pictures from down the hall). Then we had dinner with Stephen as our server throughout.
